I think that he is not crazy rather smart, because he intentionally told lies to send his wife to the hospital.
He said to his wife he saw a unicorn but he told the doctor he didn’t see it. As a result his wife was sent to the hospital. In the end the author said that he lived happily ever after; this suggests he really wanted to rid out of her.

Q9 Response to the article of LA Times

I agree to the existence of the birth-order effects. The study of 240,000 Norwegian showing that IQs of firstborns are 2 to 3 points higher than that of younger siblings supports the existence. According to Peter Kristensen's research, the effect is not biological but related to social interactions within family.

Text book P10 A#1

I like this reading, because I can know something about the only child. I have a elder brother and a younger brother and from my experience I agree to all aspects written in the reading about the oldest, middle and youngest siblings. However, I did not know how the only child was adjusted his life. Now I noted the only child tended to carry into adulthood a strong feeling of being child. However, he also tend to learn to take care of himself as much as possible, since he had no one to help if his parents were not around him.

P10 B#1

I think this discussion is also applied to Japan and most of other countries, because I feel there are similar tendency of parents' behavior. When they have a child at the first time they should be nervous and anxious about raising him, but they get more relaxed when they have a second or more children. Such parents' tendency make the similer influence to child behavior based on the birth order.
